River Valey Singers

The Thomas T. Taber Museum hosted a Society Program on Sunday, August 19, in its Community Room. The program featured the River Valley Quintet in a medley of music including well-known tunes by Irving Berlin, John Philip Sousa, Scott Joplin, and George M. Cohan.

The River Valley Quintet is composed of soprano Ruth Blankenship, alto Lucie Knauer, alto and pianist Judy Blee, tenor Joe Keller and baritone Matt Poremsky.

Many of the tunes were very recognizable and the audience participated in rousing renditions of the songs.

The Quintet displayed a number of period books and sheet music.

An old fashioned ice cream social allowed the 74 guests to mingle after the music.

This program was sponsored by the Edward J. Smith Post, Muncy; the Bower-Decker Post 251 American Legion, Montgomery; the Garrett Cochran American Legion Post in Williamsport; and Leroy O. Buck Post, Duboistown. As well, it is underwritten by the Woodcock Foundation for the Appreciation of the Arts.
